Six months after my Mom’s dementia diagnosis, it was time for some changes. We needed her safe and looked after, while keeping her dignity and independence preserved. It was time to learn about our senior living options.

I considered all aspects of senior living - independent listing, assisted living, and memory care. Which was the best route for her?

It was time for a move.

I asked my Mom if she trusted me to move her out of her 2-story home of 40+ years to help take better care of her in a new single story home. Without hesitation, she said, “Absolutely!”

My goal as her caregiver was to try to keep her at home for as long as possible and we needed a ranch home to help ease the daily living struggles. With the help of caregivers, and hospice services, we were able to keep her home throughout our journey with her dementia.

There is a trust that comes from carrying a heavy responsibility and making sure you do your best. It’s mostly felt through actions and words. I’m so thankful my Mom trusted me.
